A Print Explorer’s Guidebook
Print City is an illustrated guide to printmaking and papermaking, suitable for ages 7 to 10 years old. In a collection of 10 whimsical printmaking projects, Rolly the Print City Guide leads the way to fantastical destination : from the Turtle Racing Arena to the Print Zoo and across the Field of Rainbow Houses, Rolly leads us to discover the wondrous craft of printmaking and create a treasure trove of art pieces along the way.

This project is commissioned by STPI Creative Workshop & Gallery is a contemporary art gallery as well as a studio specialized in the medium of print and paper making.

Book Concept
Print City is an imaginary and quirky place where the citizens incorporate printmaking into their daily lives. The main character, Rolly is the tour guide of Print City, where he brings tourists to explore different parts of Print City, and at the same time engages them with various printmaking techniques.
Unlike the usual activity guidebook, Print City combines story-telling and activity guides, encouraging young readers to tap into their imagination as they become the tourists of Print City, following Rolly the tour guide, while engaging in the art activities.
Character Design
Both the Main and Sub-characters are designed to be neutral in gender and use objects and/or animals as the character forms. This is to create a better connection with the young readers.
Main character - Rolly
He is created from a printmaking brayer, and his clothes are the printmaking ink. He is a passionate guy about printmaking, hence he became the tour guide for Print City and share his passion with the citizens as well as tourists who visit Print City.
Sub characters - Cat Tourists
Cat is chosen to be the tourists as they are known to be curious fur creatures. They will create visual contrast between the Main character and other citizens who appear to be in the form of shapes and art materials, giving the idea that they are not part of the Print City citizens.
